What is BBIC?
Bed and Breakfast Innkeepers of Colorado (BBIC) was founded in 1987 for the purpose of marketing quality bed and breakfast inns as a choice location for B&B accommodations. All B&B member inns are recommended to follow a quality checklist and to insure comfort and safety for our guest travelers. BBIC is a non-profit membership organization which is a self-governed organization responsible for industry standards. Since B&Bs are small businesses (currently ranging from 1-25 rooms), the organization was formed to provide leveraged dollars through member partners.
Bed & Breakfast of Innkeepers Association Objectives:
- To set and maintain high standards of quality, guest safety, and professionalism in the association; to promote a quality lodging experience for guests staying in BBIC member inns. Breakfast must be included in the room rate to qualify as a member.
- To provide educational resources to increase member knowledge of the industry; to share ideas and actively communicate with other BBIC members in relation to the bed and breakfast industry; to broaden public knowledge and appreciation of the bed and breakfast industry.
- To support the membership through collective action with state and local regulatory agencies; to educate these agencies in relation to the bed and breakfast industry.
- To promote and exchange marketing and promotional ideas among members; to encourage an active interest and participation to promote public interest, understanding and goodwill toward bed and breakfast inns; to provide a widespread, concise means of cooperative/referral advertising to promote.
- To participate in other functions, consistent with bylaws, which advance the interest of the organization and Colorado’s bed and breakfast industry. Membership: Full Members must be traditional bed and breakfast establishments. Properties such as hotels, motels and other such businesses, although they may offer bed and breakfast accommodations, are not eligible for membership. Traditional bed and breakfast establishments are residential in nature or reflective of residential character. The inn must have a resident innkeeper who is personally involved in the guests’ care. The resident innkeeper must live in or nearby the inn.
